Mugger attacks woman in close

A 25-YEAR-OLD woman is recovering after being attacked by a would- be robber in the close of her flat in Glasgow's west end.

Police are now warning women in the area to be on the alert and say the attacker must be caught before he strikes again.

The woman's ordeal began when she was followed into the close in Crow Road by a man. He tried to grab the handbag from Other Brands Jewellery her grasp in a violent struggle.

The terrified woman, who lives alone, screamed for help and her attacker then ran off along Crow Road.

She suffered minor injuries to her arm and wrist but was left severely shaken.

Police LED Light Bulb SP50-3W are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened on Wednesday around 8pm. The attacker was described as white and in his 30s.

He had short receding dark hair, and a clean-shaven, gaunt appearance.

The man was about 5ft 7in and was wearing a black coloured waist length leather jacket and blue jeans.

Detective Constable Peter Crombie, from west end police station, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for this young woman, but fortunately she was not injured.

"This man used considerable force to try to pull the handbag from her and he must be stopped before he tries this crime on someone else.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the Crow Road area around that time who may have seen this man acting suspiciously to call us."
